New Nissan Qashqai: the technology
Based on the Nissan-Renault alliance's new Common Module Family (CMF) modular platform, the new 2014 Nissan Qashqai is packed with the latest electronic gizmos and safety kit: collision avoidance, traffic sign recognition and intelligent park assist will all be available, should you be able to afford the options. Yes, the new Qashqai will park itself - a real boon for those who get stressed when they see dotted yellow lines!
Tellingly, the Japanese call the suite of gizmos available on the 2014 Qashqai the Nissan Safety Shield. It's the first step towards having autonomous cars, which can drive for you. The company is working towards a zero-accident future in which no drivers, passengers or pedestrians are killed or injured by a new model. Sounds like sci-fi? Think again. Their goal is to have this tech viable by 2020.
